Šliaupa’s new video, The monk, evokes, in a poetic way, man’s changing relationship with nature. Rather than using cold statistics of science theory, he sets out on a search unfolding the consequences this has on people’s daily life and the feeling of loss and alienation this causes on a personal level. He does so by accumulating painterly images and atmospheric sounds in an almost sensorial way.
